I purchased a bottle of this while getting a bottle of flea and tick spray. I was a little hesitant because of the price. My cat is good at home but does make an accident while at my mom's. It does take a few minutes to hone in on the exact spot in the carpet. Give it a liberal spraying. It does reduce the odor a little when first applied. by the following day after it dries the odor is gone. I will get down on the carpet to get my nose closer. If there is still an odor at this point, I will apply a little more. Never needed more than a second application. This is just a small 7 pound cat. I would imagine that amount of this product needed is proportional to the volume of urine in the carpet. I don't think a couple of pumps of the bottle is going to do much if a dog urinated 12 ounces.
